Question: What is the test precision for the Aqua-eegg?

Answer: Our sensor is a new technology that directly measure free chlorine. Its precision is better than test strip and DPD methods, but not as accurate as professional colorimetric instrument or expensive pH electrodes. Our accuracy for free chlorine detection is about 0.2~0.5 ppm and 0.2 for pH, depending on specific pool water conditions. This accuracy is in fact enough for residential pool applications. This accuracy is also better than estimation method based on ORP and pH probe measurements widely used in pool test automation, which often leads to false alarm. More importantly, our sensor provides great advantages of automation and low ownership cost for which conventional test strips, DPD, or colorimetric instruments cannot provide.

Question: Is there any pre-caution for testing Aqua-eegg?

Answer: At current stage, our sensor is suitable for chlorine pool water only, not yet for the salt pool. Salt pool product version is under systematic testing right now. Secondly, for water with low TDS (less than 500), pH values would be higher than normal readings and its fluctuation will be larger. Typically pool water will have good TDS range for our sensor to perform well. Thirdly, when you change water conditions dramatically, you may need to test multiple times for better accuracy, as chlorine may need time to diffuse and reach equilibrium in water and at the sensor surface. In real pool applications, testing is not as frequent as we test in lab, and so this will not be a problem as water have long enough time to reach equilibrium.
